The Perfect Movie Night Recipe For A Hipster Dad

If you’re lucky enough to have a hipster Dad, you’ll have avoided cringing at terrible Dad jokes or pretending you didn’t know him when he insisted on wearing his Simpsons tie to parent’s evening. In fact, you were more likely to suspect your friends had come over to visit him instead of you. But how do you set up the perfect movie and dinner night for a Dad who’s more on trend than you?

First off, set him up with the Smartphone Projector 2.0 in Copper – this copper accented mobile projector is bound to compliment his minimalist interiors, and will fit nicely between his vinyl collection and that ironic Banksy print…

Next, think of food. With a hipster Dad, just whipping up a classic meat and two veg dish isn’t going to cut it. Try a Zucchini Noodle and Braised Corn Salad – because nothing is (and probably never will be) cooler than spiralized food. You’ll need:

  • Oil for frying
  • 1 x Red Onion
  • 1 x Fresh Corn
  • 3 x Courgettes (aka Zucchini to some..)
  • Cucumbo
  • 1 x can of Chick Peas
  • Coriander and Lime for garnish

3. Use your Cucumbo spiralizer to make the courgette noodles into continuous spirals – it’s soooo satisfying! Then shave the corn off of the cob, chop the red onion and drain the chickpeas.

4. Prepare your grill, (you want a medium flame), then fry some olive oil lightly. Fry the corn until browning, then add the courgette until it goes slightly crispy.

5. Semi crush the chick peas and mix with the red onion – leave these uncooked for extra crunch and flavour.

6. Mix everything together and garnish with coriander for a truly summery taste. Use the Juice Bruce to squeeze over some fresh lime (or if you’re feeling adventurous, to make some super cool cocktails), and you’ve got yourself a dinner fit for even the coolest of hipsters!

Introducing: Smartphone Projector 2.0 – Copper

Smartphone Projector 2.0 Copper by Luckies

Ever been on the move and suddenly had to watch Pretty Woman like, totally right now? For some people, the craving to watch their favourite movie that instant is all too real, and for these people we made the perfect gift – the Luckies Smartphone Projector. BUT if simply watching movies whenever and wherever you want isn’t enough, if you want a little more pizazz with your popcorn, let us introduce Smartphone Projector 2.0 Copper – a mobile projector for the on-trend portable film connoisseur.

With a lightweight cardboard frame and fancy copper accents, not only will you never have to worry about getting all the way home before you can see Julia romanced on the big screen again, you can also impress your style-savvy friends with your latest gadget -remember, copper is totally in this season dahling.

Suitable for use with iOS and Android compatible smart phones, this portable Smartphone Projector magnifies your phone screen by up to 8 times, comes ready assembled, AND has an adjustable focus. So when we say instant cinema room, we mean instant. On the toilet? Bam, Scrubs on the cubicle door. At your gran’s house and she’s hogging the TV? Done, The Hangover 3 in the spare room. At work and bored? Sorted, Breaking Bad under the desk…

All you need for this to work is a wall (white and plain works best – unless you think Tom Hardy could do with a damask print make over), and a charged phone set to 100% brightness to stream your movies from. So now there’s no excuse when you ask your boyfriend if he wants to watch your favourite Friends episode and he says ‘Oh I totally would if we had a telly…’.

The iPhone projector isn’t just for home movie nights – watch youtube videos of cats on the big screen (you’re welcome), project psychedelic visuals on the wall at parties, or use it to showcase embarrassing pictures at your bestie’s wedding!

Please note this is a fun gift – don’t take it to work to wow your bosses with your latest Powerpoint slideshow. Also, it works by reflecting your phone image through a glass lens which renders any text in the film backwards – so perhaps lay off any fancy art house subtitled films unless you’ve got a mirror handy!

Smartphone Projector 2.0: How to Set up the Perfect Home Movie Night

Smartphone Projector 2.0 by Luckies

There are many good reasons you’d choose a home movie night over a trip to the cinema (it’s raining, you’d rather not spend £7.50 on hot dogs that taste like gym socks, they won’t let you take your cats), but perhaps the most compelling reason to date is the Luckies Smartphone Projector 2.0. This nifty gadget lets you watch movies on the big screen without even leaving the house – staying in is the new going out, after all! But perfecting your in-house film night isn’t as simple as just pressing play…Keep the punters happy with our guide to setting up the perfect home movie night.

First, set the mobile projector up with your android or iPhone (fits phones up to a maximum size of 80mm x 160mm / 3.2 x 6.2 inches.). It comes ready assembled so this should be an easy win – just point it at a plain white wall, draw the curtains and adjust the focus accordingly. The projector kit also comes in a range of colours so you can pick one that fits your decor perfectly; choose from the fancy leather look original, on-trend copper, or the Gatsy inspired black and gold edition.

Picture the scene, your action movie is in full swing, explosions and gun fire are rife, but all you can hear is your stomach rumbling. Your big screen is going to need a big sound – enter, the Smartphone Speaker, audio sister of the Smartphone Projector. Simply hook it up to your phone for an instant surround sound experience.

Speaking of grumbling tums, no night in with Netflix is complete without the nibbles. Make sure you’ve got something for everyone – the vegetarians, the gluten intolerant, and the darn right fussy. Whack the popcorn in the microwave and pass your other tidbits around in these Pistachio shaped snack bowls. They’re also perfect for keeping discarded shells in, (no one likes to find other peoples half chewed nut casings under their cinema seats).

Finally, sort out some drinks. Asking everyone to bring a bottle means your budget doesn’t skyrocket, and ensures everyone will get something they like. Liven things up a bit with these fun Party Cups – there’s 12 in a pack, and each one comes with a detachable wrap so you can mix and match expressions with your faces – guaranteed to fill any potential lulls in the film with witty banter!

Now all that’s left is to invite your friends over and pick a film that everyone wants to see (easier said than done). Switch off the lights, crank your screen up to full brightness and you’re good to go! Shhhhh, no talking in the back…

So kick back, bust out the popcorn and wait to be inundated with friend requests once news spreads that you’ve started your own portable movie business.

So now you can be set up and watching your fave films as quickly as you and your boyfriend can agree on a movie…

The iPhone projector is a perfect gift for those gadget obsessed friends, and can be used for more than just home movie nights – project images from the roaring 20’s onto the wall during a fancy dress party, watch YouTube fail videos in your bedroom with friends or set the mood with some ambient visuals on a dinner date!

Please note this is a fun gift – don’t take it to an interview to wow potential bosses with your latest Powerpoint show. Also, it works by reflecting your phone image through a glass lens which means text appears backwards – so maybe lay off the French art house, unless you’re fluent in back-speak!

Smartphone Projector = Smart entertainment for the kids this half term

Smartphone Projector by Luckies

Keeping the kids entertained during the half term break can be a difficult task and with a high chance of wet weather you might be struggling for fun indoor projects to keep them (and you!) happy. Luckies have got two words for you….Smartphone Projector! This diy cardboard projector is not only a fun craft project for children, it also provides hours of entertainment as their very own mini cinema in a box. So without further ado, here are our top 5 ideas on how this cool gift just keeps on giving…

A DIY Smartphone Projector? Trust us, it’s not as tricky as it sounds.

Okay so self assembly might give you flash backs of hours spent trying to make that Ikea wardrobe that seemed so simple at first. Take a deep breath – we’ve made Smartphone Projector as simple to make as humanly possible, all you need is some glue or double sided sticky tape and a bored child or two. Just say “how about building your own home cinema from scratch” and they’ll be folding and sticking this box together and setting up their new toy in no time! The projector comes with clear instructions and pictures on how to put everything together and although simple for an adult to construct, it’s likely to take kids a little longer – allowing some serious parental respite.

Cinema al fresco

There is certainly a trend for outdoor screenings these days, but with Rastamouse very rarely on the bill why not get the kids to create their own! Not only will is save you some cash on tickets (which would probably add up to the price of a bottle of gin, just saying..). All you need is a tent, a smartphone with some cartoons loaded up and a Smartphone Projector! Add some cosy blankets, snacks and drinks into the mix then set up the projector inside so the image is projected onto one of the tent walls. Get snuggled up and while they can have their very own outdoor cartoonathon, you can pour that well deserved G&T…

Art house cinema

When it’s not quite the weather for outdoor screenings but the average home cinema experience doesn’t quite cut the mustard with your “alternative” little ones, why not create their very own Art House Cinema? Tell them to grab their favourite bed sheet and arrange it creatively over the reclaimed wooden furniture in the lounge…basically make a really cool den! Then grab that Smartphone Projector and get showing all the old classics – Bagpuss, Betty Boop, Rainbow… okay so maybe this one is for the adults…

A photo finish

If you’re worried about your kids eyes turning into the shape of SpongeBob’s pants then this fun game might be more for you. Get your children to spend the afternoon taking 10 cool photos each on their smartphone gadgets. Then set up the projector so they can present their creative efforts one after the other to any family members willing to indulge in this très moderne photo exhibition. Seeing as it’s opening night then glasses of champers should definitely be handed out to all attending adults on arrival. We have a feeling they might need it!

If self assembly still seems like too much effort, check out Smartphone Projector 2.0 – you’ll be able to do all of the above, straight out of the box.

Smartphone Projector: The Ultimate Gift for the Guy who has Everything

Smartphone Projector by Luckies

Finding a gift for the guy who has everything is not an easy task. But do you know what’s even harder? Finding gifts for men who have everything! It’s all very well going down the six pack of beer and I.O.U. a foot massage gifting route every now and then but Luckies are here to help if you fancy thinking outside the box (excuse the pun) this year when it comes to finding a gift for the guy who has everything. After all, finding an unusual mens gift will get you way more kudos when he’s moaning about you down the pub.

Smartphone Projector by Luckies

Here at Luckies, we think our Smartphone Projector is the ultimate gift for the guy who has everything. Quite simply a portable mini cinema in a box, Smartphone Projector will allow him to project his favourite movies and video clips straight from his phone onto a wall. The original Smartphone Projector is a D.I.Y and can be assembled in under 10 minutes with just glue or double sided sticky tape. Light and compact, it also allows you to avoid those ‘we’re going to miss Match of the Day’ digs because he can pretty much take it anywhere (just not your sister’s wedding, okay?). Don’t worry though, with 8 x magnification, it’ll give you a better view of Cristiano Ronaldo’s legs anyway…

Not only does Smartphone Projector make for a rather unusual gift for men (we’re pretty sure the guy who has everything has never built their own cinema in a box before…), it won’t break the bank either. Never mind Christmas gifts for the guy who has everything, Smartphone Projector is gift appropriate all year round. Project movies onto the tent wall whilst camping in summer or have a cinema session back at the chalet, après ski this winter…So whether you’re looking for unusual birthday gifts for men, unusual Easter gifts for men or unusual bar mitzvah gifts for men, Smartphone Projector has definitely got you covered.
